I think that my videos conventions more move towards Goodwin. This is because Vernallis more talks about how music videos were made for 'the male gaze' which I do not believe is true for my video. Yes there are only female characters in my video, but they are not sexualised in anyway.
I feel as though it is more important to have a good story then to please the male gaze.
I was influenced a lot by the likes of Paramore, The 1975, Echosmith, Melanie Martinez, Florence and the Machine, Fun, Birdy, Troye Sivan and more. This was because of the type of style they have within their videos. I feel as though all of these artists are good at showing the style type that my artist and their music wants to convey. So using these artists as inspiration seems like a good idea. Especially when their videos are the same aesthetic to them.
The music video for 'Ain't it Fun' by Paramore, gave me the idea of using the forest as part of my video.

The music video for 'Chocolate' by The 1975 gave me the idea of filming some of my shots in the car. Not like I could do it the same way but it was still a nice idea.
I feel as though the most important inspiration I took from other videos was the visual style of the videos. As I had mentioned before I took inspiration from them because I felt that my artist has the same style as them. The editing of the video is always well put together in order to show the story that is being shown in the video. I thought the main aspect of other videos that I enjoyed from my genre was that a lot of them told a story or were fun, instead of being random or only about the song itself or the artist.
For the most part of my video and my ancillary products I paid attention to the conventions of the indie genre. However when it came to my magazine advert, I ignored the usual conventions for it. Typically, an advertisement has the face of the new artist on it so that people can know who they are. I didn't want to do this, I thought it was a lot more interesting to have the artist facing the opposite way. The theory to this was that it would be more interesting to find out who the artist is than know who they are straight away, so you would want to look more into the artist.
